Michael Morneault manages new business development with leading national corporations and law firms. Prior to joining H5, Mr. Morneault was vice president and chief investment officer of Innovation Works, a seed stage venture capital fund. Previously, he was at McKesson Corporation, where he first served as general counsel and then as vice president of strategy and business development for the Fortune 20 company’s healthcare automation businesses. Before joining McKesson, he practiced law in the Business and Finance Group of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Mr. Morneault also served with distinction in the Army’s 3rd U.S. Infantry (the “Old Guard”) in Washington, D.C. Stephen P. Van Liere, Esq.

Steve Van Liere Steve Van Liere manages new business development with leading national corporations and law firms. Mr. Van Liere has worked as a lawyer, recruiter, and provider of services to the legal industry for 25 years. He joined H5 from the executive search firm Korn Ferry International, where he conducted national searches for general counsels, law firm partners, and executives. Prior to working at Korn Ferry, Mr. Van Liere was a legal executive search consultant for Highland Partners (now part of Heidrick & Struggles), and prior to that he founded his own legal recruiting and contract lawyer business in San Francisco called The Tiro Company. Mr. Van Liere was a business litigator with the former San Francisco law firm Landels Ripley & Diamond, and worked for many years as regional vice president for the American Arbitration Association, the world’s largest provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services. Mr. Van Liere earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he graduated as a Tony Patino Fellow. Vivien Naim, Esq.

Practice Director and Counsel

Vivien Naim manages new business development with leading national corporations and law firms, and counsels H5 on compliance and regulatory matters. Ms. Naim has over 15 years of experience with leading financial institutions. Before joining H5, Ms. Naim was director and senior counsel at Merrill Lynch, where she provided legal, regulatory, and compliance counsel to the Global Bank Group on strategic growth initiatives, development and distribution of commercial and consumer banking products, and the enhancement of business processes. Prior to that, Ms. Naim served as vice president and assistant general counsel in JPMorgan Chase’s Litigation Department, where she conducted and managed domestic and international litigations, including securities law, fraud, contract, antitrust, lender liability, retail banking, and bankruptcy-related matters. Before going in-house, Ms. Naim was a litigation associate at Debevoise & Plimpton, where she handled all phases of complex commercial litigation. Kris Vann, Esq.

Practice Director

Kris Vann

Kris Vann manages new business development with leading national corporations and law firms across the US. She brings over a decade of experience managing litigation as an attorney and legal consultant. As an Associate Attorney with Sonnenschein Nath and Rosenthal LLP, she practiced in the areas of Complex Litigation, Intellectual Property, Employment, and Bankruptcy. In addition, she handled Environmental issues during her work with the Sierra Club. Critical to the field of litigation consulting, she also brings experience in technology and client services having served as Senior Consultant for global management consulting firm Accenture. Leveraging her hybrid legal/technology experience, she managed large-scale projects in high stakes litigation as an Engagement Manager at H5 and as Legal Consultant for Kroll, Inc. Ms. Vann studied law at Northwestern University School of Law and Southern Methodist University. She studied international business and marketing at American University in Washington D.C. She is admitted to the Bar in Illinois and serves as volunteer attorney with the Asian American Bar Association (AABA) assisting low-income clients with immigration, domestic violence and family law matters. Kelvin Chin, Esq.

Kel Chin

Kel Chin manages new business development with leading national and international corporations and law firms on complex document-intensive litigation, government investigations, and regulatory compliance. Mr. Chin has more than 20 years experience in business and legal services, and was among the first to focus full-time on law firm sales efforts with GCs, CFOs, and CEOs of Fortune 500 and middle market companies. He joined H5 from the AmLaw100 firm Womble Carlyle, and prior to that was at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge (now Edwards Wildman), and the litigation firm Theodora Oringher, where he held sales director and chief client development officer roles. Mr. Chin was a regional vice president for a decade with the American Arbitration Association, the world's largest provider of arbitration and mediation services. He has also been a corporate associate at Choate Hall & Stewart, has lived and worked in Europe and Asia, and co-founded a technology start up that was later sold. Marc Fink, Esq.

Director, Practice Development

Marc FinkMarc Fink manages new business development with leading national corporations and law firms. Before joining H5, Mr. Fink was a vice president and divisional compliance advisor with Merrill Lynch, serving as the primary compliance resource for over 90 branch offices. Prior to that he worked at Schwartz Nardello, LLP, where he served as a senior investigative counsel of the Citigroup monitorship team in conjunction with the Global Research Settlement Agreement. Mr. Fink co-authored the official monitorship report, which was submitted to the SEC, NYSE, and the NASD. Previously, Mr. Fink served as an associate director in the Legal Department of Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. Before that, he was a trial counsel with the New York Stock Exchange Division of Enforcement after working as a senior associate at Bower & Gardner, a product liability and medical malpractice defense firm. Mr. Fink began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in New York County. Dan Brassil

Principal Consultant

Dan Brassil provides expertise in information retrieval, linguistics and solutions design. Since joining the company in 2005, he has served in key leadership roles on H5 engagements, consulting with clients to identify strategies for capturing relevant subject matter from large document populations and overseeing the implementation of these strategies, ensuring they meet client needs and objectives. He previously served as an associate director in H5’s Professional Services group and was head of research, modeling and analysis. Prior to joining H5, Mr. Brassil taught linguistics at the University of California, San Diego and his work has been published in linguistics and information retrieval journals such as Artificial Intelligence and the Law and Proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. Shelley Podolny

Director, Information Management Consulting

Shelley Podolny Shelley Podolny manages project implementation of H5's strategic search and consulting services for information governance, records management and litigation readiness initiatives for H5’s enterprise clients. Before joining H5, Ms. Podolny served as a consultant to Altria Corporate Services, where she project managed a multi-faceted records retention initiative. Prior to that, she was a business systems analyst, project manager, and programmer for Bear Stearns, Deutsche Bank and Dresdner Bank, where she gained a strong technical background to bring to the evolving world of electronic records. She also has training in interface and information design and developed online help systems for proprietary software as a project manager at Marsh, Inc. Ms. Podolny has a B.A., cum laude, from the University of California at Berkeley and is a graduate of the New York University Data Processing and Systems Analysis Institute. Thomas Bookwalter

Thomas BookwalterThomas Bookwalter is a practice director for H5’s Information Governance Solutions business. He has worked at the nexus of regulation, industry, and information technology for over 20 years. He is a former executive vice president of Instinet, a global institutional brokerage firm, and is also the founder and CEO of FMDC Compliance Solutions, where he worked with companies to develop information management solutions for regulated content. Since 2000, he has been actively involved in the design, evaluation, selection, and integration of information management and archiving technologies to help clients meet regulatory and legal requirements. Mr. Bookwalter holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, and has attended the University of Michigan and the Institute of European Studies in Vienna, Austria. [contact]
